so kiss me and smile for me

As this weekend comes to a close, there is one song that comes to mind (minus the countless camp songs running through my head)

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

If you have read any posts from this summer, you know how much I really and truly do love camp, but this year felt different in terms of leaving. Last summer, I shed tears for my friends that I knew wouldn't return, and even the ones that would, but the fear of missing them and never seeing them again was overwhelming last summer. This summer was different. Although I did shed a massive amount of tears for the amazing friends and co-counselors at the end of the night, I shed tears for my campers this summer.

Throughout the past 7 weeks, I created a bond with a group of 13 year old girls I don't think could ever be replicated.

So here it is, one last photo dump from this summer before I transition into my normal blogging schedule and life!

Day off adventure in Boston

Selfies are a must of nights off

I'm literally obsessed with the Berkshires

13 year old girls LOVE selfies

Like LOVE them

Did I mention they like selfies?

Got paid to go to the Cape Cod Chip Factory

And water parks

And Nauset Beach

The Sub Senior Staff of 2014

It's a tradition to decorate a rock in the camp colors and add them to the rock pile in the campfire area after the candlelight ceremony on banquet night.

My campers are absolutely beautiful

Like, GORGEOUS

Can they stop growing up?

I'm so lucky to call this guy one of my best friends.

These two have been there since our first day of camp in 2013. I'm so glad I got to spend another summer with them

selfiez for dayz during banquet

Sub Senior Girls and Staff 2014 <3

love this guy

One last selfie on the way to the airport :(
I cannot put into words what this summer did for me in terms of growing and experience and just being all around life changing. The transition back into the real world is one I'm not looking forward to, but I am so grateful I have all these memories to get me through the next 10 months. As the campers say, I'm living 10 for 2.

Bare and Beautiful

I've been slightly MIA from the blog world as of recently, but I swear I have a good reason. (at least that's what I tell myself) Along with the ever approaching graduation, two photographer friends and I have decided to do a collaborative project. It has been interesting and exciting, and I believe the end product will be absolutely incredible. But seriously, you should check these girls' photography out. Meg and Kailagh are both absolutely incredible!

Our project was called The Bare and Beautiful Project. We've spent the past month or so photographing and interviewing women we go to school with. We asked them 5 simple questions:

  1. What does natural beauty mean to you?
  2. What do you like and dislike about yourself?
  3. What has media done to the perception of beauty?
  4. When did you realize beauty was a social construction?
  5. What are your thoughts of beauty in the media?
  6. What do you find beautiful in others?
Not only was it absolutely incredible to hear all these women's answers, but we also got them to get as "bare" as they were comfortable too. For some it meant no make up, and others got quite bare. It was inspiring and beautiful to see these women, some who I'm friends with and some strangers and see them talk about their bodies and be able to photograph their insecurities and show them how beautiful they really are.

We were also able to interview some men on campus about how they perceive beauty in the media which was also eye opening and incredible.

Our final project is being presented this Wednesday (SO SOON!) We are having an open gallery in our student center with a few prints and a running slideshow of all the photos we took along with presenting our mini documentary. It has been a wonderful experience to work with these two other ladies and put this all together. To celebrate how excited I am, here are some pictures as a teaser for the project!

she put a ring on it

oops. I'm doing two posts today. #sorrynotsorry I'm also not sorry for just using a hashtag.

To quote my girl Beyonce, "if you like it then you should have put a ring on it." and that is exactly what my best friend's fiance just did!

I made a post last week when I found out that she got engaged, which you can check out HERE.

But the most awesome part about this engagement (besides that I'm the maid of honor) is that I was so incredibly lucky to take their engagement photos. Which, I discovered, is not a thing in England - where my friend's fiance is from.

I won't take up any more of your time, just check out the photos. (which, by the way, were taken at our childhood summer camp!)

Like could they please be a little cuter?!

and this ring?! GORGEOUS!

I guess now its time to start planning that bachelorette party, write a kick-ass maid of honor speech and find that special plus one! :)
